s a collector of early clocks and sundials, I have designed this site to illustrate a small selection of interesting examples that - in my opinion - have a certain primitive, quirky or rustic charm about them. My particular passion is for collecting religious versed clocks made by John Sanderson, who was the founding member of, what has become known as John Sanderson was brought up amongst quakers and had very strong connections with them. I now believe that many of his early clocks - which date from the 1690’s - could have been made for, and supplied to, the quaker settlement in the Wigton region.
